My Triumph Tiger 900 GT Low is affectionately known as Wee Radge. The name comes from my dog, Ted—a Malamute–Staffy cross who is also known as Wee Radge.
He’s full of personality and always ready for an adventure, so it seemed only right that the bike should carry his nickname.

The Tiger is my first-ever adventure bike. One of the main reasons I chose the GT Low was simple: I’ve got short legs! The lower seat height makes it much easier for me to handle, particularly when stopping, parking or moving the bike around at low speeds. Having that extra confidence makes a big difference when you’re getting used to a new and unfamiliar style of motorcycle.
Although it’s called an adventure bike, most of my adventures so far have been on the road. I’ve ridden the Wild Atlantic Way and explored some of the Scottish islands—both fantastic places to experience by motorcycle.
The Wild Atlantic Way was particularly memorable. With its rugged coastline, twisting roads and spectacular views, it felt like exactly the sort of journey the Tiger was built for. The Scottish islands offered something different but equally special: quieter roads, dramatic landscapes and that wonderful feeling of being somewhere removed from everyday life.
I’m still very much a newcomer to adventure riding, and there’s plenty for me to learn. That’s part of what makes owning Wee Radge so exciting. Every journey helps me become more familiar with the bike and a little more confident about travelling farther afield.
Next, I want to explore much more of Scotland. There are still countless roads, islands, glens and remote corners that I haven’t seen. I’d also like to try some gentle trail riding when I feel ready. I know that will bring a completely new set of challenges—and probably the occasional dropped bike—but learning as I go is all part of the experience.
Eventually, I hope Wee Radge will take me farther into Europe. There are mountain roads, coastlines, villages and entire countries waiting to be explored.
For now, I’m enjoying getting to know my first adventure bike and discovering what we can do together. There will undoubtedly be mistakes, wrong turns and a few nervous moments. Hopefully, there will also be plenty of laughs, memorable rides and stories worth sharing.
Wee Radge may be low, but my ambitions for our future adventures certainly aren’t.
